Personal Style

If you have a particular personal style or aesthetic that you love, incorporating that into your themed photos can make them feel more authentic and true to who you are. For example, if you love vintage fashion, a vintage-themed photo session could be perfect for you. Or, like Brandon, you could plan an entire photography session around your favorite movie or TV show. He chose the TV show Euphoria!

Occasion

Themed photo sessions can be a great way to commemorate a special occasion, such as a birthday, anniversary, or engagement. Choosing a theme that reflects the occasion can make the photos feel more meaningful and memorable.

Brandon chose to have a Euphoria-themed birthday party, and it was fabulous! He had all of his close friends together, they dressed up, and they partied. Throw in a little glitter, and there you have it: Euphoria-themed birthday.

Location

Choosing a theme that fits the location where the photo session will take place can be a great way to make the photos feel more cohesive and integrated. This is not a requirement though. You can have a themed photoshoot wherever you want, it might take more work. But, sometimes hard work is worth the reward!

In Brandon’s case, he had a friend set up a backdrop with balloons, and I edited it in a style that would not make it look like we were in his house.

Photographer’s Style

If you’re working with a photographer who specializes in a particular style or theme, it can be a great opportunity to collaborate and create something truly unique and special. I wouldn’t say that my style is “Euphoria” but I loved the creativity Brandon’s session inspired

Comfort Level

Ultimately, the most important thing is that you feel comfortable and confident during the photo session. If a particular theme doesn’t resonate with you or makes you feel uncomfortable, it’s better to choose something else that feels more authentic and true to who you are.

Having a themed photo session is a great way to add creativity and personality to your photos. Consider your personal style, the occasion, the location, the photographer’s style, and your comfort level when deciding whether or not to have a themed photo session. With the right planning and preparation, you can create beautiful, meaningful photos that you’ll cherish for years to come.

I would love to help your creative vision thrive! Let’s plan a themed photography session together 🙂
